Product Manager


Location: Bloomington, Minnesota
Department: Product

Founded in 1997 with a mission to amplify the love, hope, and compassion in the world, making each health journey easier, CaringBridge is the largest, oldest, and most widely used social networking site for family and friends to communicate with loved ones during a health journey. Based in Minnesota, we are proud of our global reach and nonprofit status with nearly 90% of our funding coming from the people who have experienced the power of CaringBridge firsthand. Since our founding, more than half a million CaringBridge websites have been created and it’s become an indispensable part of many users’ lives. Every twelve minutes, a CaringBridge website is created for someone experiencing a health event.



Primary Objective of Position

  • Plays a pivotal role, on a cross-functional team, focused on creating meaningful experiences for our users, responsible for articulating and translating the overall vision of the product using data to achieve necessary organizational outcomes.

  • Works with stakeholders, end users, and functional and technical team members to rapidly deliver solutions to customers using customer insights, data, and other means to rapidly deliver quality solutions to customers.

  • The Product Manager is the voice of the customer and will need to continually optimize and improve the products they are responsible for.



Primary Responsibilities

  • Define and manage the product vision, strategy, and value with a customer-first mindset ensuring alignment with organizational KPIs.

  • Articulate how the product supports and drives business objectives, and communicate this to relevant stakeholders.

  • Develop, own, and execute the product roadmap, including the communication and maintenance of its current iteration.

  • Create go-to-market strategy for new products and features, measuring success through defined metrics and KPIs.

  • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics, and themes to ensure work aligns with the product strategy.

  • Using customer feedback, analytics, and testing, turn data insights into actionable products and features.

  • Develop detailed product feature specifications and ensure they’re clearly understood by relevant teams.

  • Understand the CaringBridge user and pain points to deliver great product experiences.

  • Mitigate roadblocks to achieving sprint/release goals, ensuring smooth progress through development cycle, and managing identified risks effectively.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors or partners.

  • Stay current on market trends and apply to strategies when applicable.



Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Product Management, Business, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management, or a position of similar responsibilities, preferably in a consumer-facing digital business.

  • 5+ years of experience managing web and mobile products.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.

  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, time management and communication skills with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously.

  • Experience with product management tools, techniques, and principles across discovery, design, build, release and measure cycle (Jira, Confluence a must).

  • Experience creating detailed reports and presentations to executives and key stakeholders.

  • Self-starter that collaborates well with others, embraces team building, and exhibits a positive, solution-oriented approach.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with personnel and outside contacts.

  • Ability to cope with the rapid pace and constant change associated with the industry.

  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary Range
The salary range for this role is $102,000 to $146,000. Base pay offer decisions include consideration of related education, experience, advanced certifications and pay markets.
